A wakeup call that changed everything
Since I can remember — I’m talking, my little girl era — so much of my identity was wrapped up in being the “nice girl.”
I did what I was told.
Got along with everyone.
Kept the peace.
If people-pleasing were a sport, I’d have taken home the gold.
I was saying yes when I wanted to say no — too afraid to disappoint someone, to hurt their feelings, or to be seen as “difficult.”
Then came the moment that cracked everything open.​​
I had booked a massage for a tight knot in my neck. It turned out to be a swollen lymph node — and a full-on cancer scare. Cancer runs deep in my family, including my dad. So when I walked out of that hospital, I had one clear thought:
“There’s so much I still want to do. What if I don’t get the chance?”
That was the moment I woke up.
I made a promise to myself:

To stop chasing approval and start choosing me
It didn’t happen overnight — but it was the beginning of reclaiming my energy.
I started noticing:
